EU SOFTWARE DIRECTIVE - HERE WE GO (YET) AGAIN!

Reuters reports that it looks like the EU Computer Implemented Inventions Directive may be going ahead after all. An unnamed Polish diplomat announced on Monday that:

"If the Luxembourg presidency puts the computer patent directive as an
A-point (an issue to be approved without a debate) [on the agenda of the bloc's ministers meeting next week], we will raise no objections. That is, unless there are new instructions from Warsaw."

However, changes to protect SMEs may be needed in the second reading, he said.

Even if the Polish objections are dropped, the law will still need to get past the EU Parliament, the Legal Affairs Committee of which voted to scrap the legislation law week.

The Commission is reserving its position.

One thoroughly confused IPKat despairs...

    "An unnamed Polish diplomat"...
Where are facts? Like: names of persons who try to push this "legisaltion trash" again and again as A-item although We see that there is opposition to it.
What is wrong with EU institutions. The Council is trying to push this legislation, MEPs are trying to block it. The whole legislative process is in a big crisis IMHO. Besides it shows how easy is to lobby for unfair law in EU.
    I wrote a little scatterbrained. I'm sorry.
have a nice sunny day dear cat
