.eu DISPUTE RESOLUTION RULES

The IPKat is grateful to Cedric Manara for tipping him off that the .eu Dispute Resolution Rules have become available. EURid has appointed the Prague-based Czech Arbitration Court, which is attached to the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic and Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic, as the body responsible for providing ADR for .eu disputes and the Czech Arbitration Court has now launched a public consultation on the rules that it has drafted.

The Arbitration Court is also seeking suitably qualified people to be panellists in .eu disputes.

The IPKat says that if you want to have your say, you’d better get your skates on – the consultation period ends 7 September.

  1. With the greatest of respect to the Czech Arbitration Court, which I am sure is an excellent body, why on earth has it been chosen to arbitrate .eu domain names?

Comments will not be allowed if the contravene the IPKat policy that readers' comments should not be obscene or defamatory; they should not consist of ad hominem attacks on members of the blog team or other comment-posters and they should make a constructive contribution to the discussion of the post on which they purport to comment.

It is also the IPKat policy that comments should not be made completely anonymously, and users should use a consistent name or pseudonym (which should not itself be defamatory or obscene, or that of another real person), either in the "identity" field, or at the beginning of the comment. Current practice is to, however, allow a limited number of comments that contravene this policy, provided that the comment has a high degree of relevance and the comment chain does not become too difficult to follow.
